Eating well in France on a student budget

The book has my store ranking, the words you need in a boulangerie and my 20-minute spicy pasta. This page is where I keep the longer version.

My weekly shop

  • Aldi or Lidl for staples: rice, pasta, eggs, frozen veg, tuna, yoghurt.
  • The market on Sunday for fruit, vegetables and cheese, at the end of the morning when prices drop.
  • Too Good To Go for surprise bags of unsold food.
  • Indian spices and lentils: Paris Store (Lille, near Roubaix Eurotéléport), La Chapelle in Paris.

Recipes

[Josh to finish] Add your go-to recipes here: the spicy pasta, the chicken curry, the dal you batch-cook on Sundays. Quantities, cost per portion, and a photo each.

Eating out without going broke

The formule (lunch menu), the boulangerie sandwich, the kebab and the CROUS restaurant: a full meal for a few euros.

[Josh to finish] Your favourite cheap spots in Lille and Paris.
